3/5/2020 Thursday, Psalm 121:1-4
"1 I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? 2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! 3 He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber 4 Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps."
The Psalmist here is addressing a common misunderstanding in his day. It was normal for there to be shrines to pagan gods located on the top of mountains. This Psalm reminds us still today that this is not the source of our help in times of trouble— a reminder that is vital because help does not always come in the way we expect. Sometimes it appears out of nowhere, without us even asking. Sometimes it seems like it will never happen. At other times, it shows up in surprising ways we could not have foreseen. I pray we will receive the blessing of being reminded of this promise. God is our source of help. God can be trusted to help us because he is the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.
What are you currently facing that seems overwhelming? Today, spend some time asking God to provide it.
