Psalm 121:5-6
"5 The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. 6 The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night." This Psalm is part of a section of our Biblical Psalms, which are known as the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). These were sung by the crowds who journeyed to Jerusalem for one of Israel’s many feast celebrations. They reminded the faithful that they were not making this trip out of duty but out of a sense of joy and celebration. This celebration was rooted in what the Creator had done and was continuing to do. Lent is a time during which the church symbolically travels with Jesus to Jerusalem. No matter what is in our past, this is a journey filled with hope and joy. Our hope and joy are grounded in God, who stands beside us and is a protective shade for us in times of trouble. In what ways can you sing and celebrate our faithful God today? Keep a Holy Lent Pastor Josh
